Harshal Patel’s coach at PBKS supports him despite his slow start: It’s too early to say. Harshal Patel has the support of Sunil Joshi, the bowling coach for Punjab, to perform well in the Indian Premier League (IPL) games that remain.
In just two games, Harshal has claimed three wickets, but at a costly economy rate of 11.50, he has given up runs. Harshal was given the opportunity to bowl in the final overs of both the games against Delhi and Bangalore, but he fell short of the expectations.
In the final over of the innings in the match against Delhi, Abhishek Porel called him to task. Joshi, though, decided against making a judgment call after just two excursions. He said that Harshal would continue to be a crucial option for the Kings to take wickets throughout the competition.
“Harshal is improving his rate of economy.”
“You’ll think that the batsmen will take the chance when you go to take wickets, so we give them that chance, so they have that option with them,” Joshi said to reporters prior to Saturday’s match against Lucknow at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
He said, “As the season is just getting started, it is still too early to draw any conclusions. However, he is working on improving his economy rate and is our primary top wicket-taker in death overs. When you are giving runs in the death overs, obviously you will look to take wickets as well.”
Thanks to victories in one of their two games, PBKS is now ranked fifth in the standings with two points and a net run rate of +0.025. They fell to Bangalore by 4 wickets at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium after defeating Delhi by 4 wickets at the recently constructed venue in Mullanpur.
