Losing the T20 International Series, Bangladesh’s terrible form continues: Bangladesh’s awful form continued on Thursday as they lost the second Twenty20 International to the United States of America by a score of six runs, and with one match remaining, they lost the three-match series. The USA has never defeated a full member nation in a series before.

USA was put to bat first, and after 20 overs, Monank Patel (42), Aaron Jones (35), and Steven Taylor (31) all made contributions that helped the team reach 144/6. Following the objective, the only Bangladeshi batters to achieve double figures were Tanzid Hasan (19), captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (36), Towhid Hridoy (25) and Shakib Al Hasan (30). Six players on the side were dismissed in single digits.

At the Prairie View Cricket Complex in Houston, Texas, Bangladesh was destroyed for just 138 runs in 19.3 overs by the USA bowlers, led by Ali Khan (3 for 25), who shared two wickets with Saurabh Netravalkar and Shadley van Schalkwyk.

This is the most recent crushing blow to the World No. 9 squad, who on Tuesday fell by five wickets to the USA, who are ranked 19th.

It is noteworthy that the United States of America defeated Ireland in the 2021 T20Is, marking their first-ever triumph over an ICC Full Member country.

Bangladesh, batting first, only scored 153 for 6, mostly due to the combined 67 runs scored by Mahmudullah (31) and Towhid Hridoy (58). Bangladesh’s early problems caused them to fall behind early in the match, reaching 68 for 4, but Hridoy and Mahmudullah came to their aid.

Steven Taylor led the USA’s bowlers with skill, taking two wickets for nine runs. Harmeet Singh, a current member of Team USA and a former cricketer for India Under-19, also contributed with four frugal overs in which he restricted the Bangladeshi batsmen to only 27 runs.

With five wickets down and three balls remaining, USA managed to reach the mark of 154 thanks to a brilliant knock of 33 unbeaten off just 13 balls by Harmeet.

Bangladesh will try to regain some prestige on May 25th in the third and final Twenty20 match.
