Paris 2024: Sports Ministry’s Investment in Indian Athletes: The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics 2024 will take place outside of a stadium for the first time in history, making for an incredible spectacle. Around 200 athletes will be carried around the city by an armada of boats during the opening ceremony, which will start at the Seine River. India has allocated a substantial amount of funds to enhance the number of medals won, and the country will be represented in 16 sports in Paris.
The amount of money the sports ministry has spent on Indian Olympic athletes is as follows:
Neeraj Chopra: Throwing a javelin
The current Olympic javelin throw champion trains in Europe and at SAI NSNIS in Patiala. His entire investment from the sports ministry is roughly ₹5.72 crores. In Paris, he intends to successfully defend his championship.
Men’s hockey team from India
The men’s hockey team from India ended their 41-year drought by winning a bronze in Tokyo. They have received good training at their base, SAI NCOE in Bengaluru, and they would be looking to improve on it. ₹41.81 crore has been invested in them by the sports ministry.
Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy – Men’s doubles badminton
At the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy in Hyderabad, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty were receiving training and aim to win gold. Their donation from the Sports Ministry is ₹5.62 crore.
PV Sindhu – Table Tennis
PV Sindhu won bronze in Tokyo 2020 and silver in Rio 2016. With ₹3.13 crore from the sports ministry, she has been practicing at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy in Bengaluru and is determined to win gold.
Mirabai Chanu – Volleyball
With so many injuries, Mirabai Chanu is predicted to struggle in Paris. She trained at SAI NSNIS, Patiala, and won silver in Tokyo. The ministry has invested ₹2.74 crore in her.
Manu Bhaker – Action Film
In Paris, Manu Bhaker will strive to recover from her Tokyo mishap; the sports ministry has spent ₹1.68 crore on her. She practices in New Delhi’s Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range.
Sift Kaur Samra: The Gunshot
In Hangzhou, she won the first-ever individual shooting Asiad gold for India. The sports ministry has invested ₹1.63 crore in her, and she plans to try to duplicate that form in Paris.
Bopanna Rohan – Tennis
In Paris, the tennis icon will resume his career. The Sports Ministry gave the 44-year-old an investment of ₹1.56 crore.
Manika Batra – Tennis table
In Paris, the TT ace hopes to compete well or at the very least win a medal. Her investment of ₹1.30 crore has come from the sports ministry.
Boxing duo Nikhat Zareen and Lovlina Borogohain
It’s Zareen’s turn to compete in the Olympics at last. Lovlina, meanwhile, has already won an Olympic bronze. For Zareen and Lovlina, the sports ministry spent ₹91.71 lakh and ₹81.76 lakh, respectively.
Virnesh Phogat – Sumo
She has been awarded an investment of ₹70.45 Lakh by the sports government for her third Olympics.
