In 2024, 45% of pupils might not be placed? In response to reports, IIT Madras clarifies. The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, today confirmed that placements are still happening at IIT Madras and the final placement data will be available at the end of July 2024, post convocation only, refuting rumors claiming over 45 percent of the institute’s students are still unplaced.
At IIT Madras, placements are still being made. Students have a wide range of interests; some want to pursue higher education, some want to launch their own businesses and experiment with entrepreneurship, while still others want to take competitive tests like those for the public services.
These choices take time for them to make. Following convocation at the end of July 2024, the placement data would be accessible, IIT Madras stated in a statement.
When Dheeraj Singh, an IIT Kanpur alumnus, disclosed the information based on a recent RTI he submitted, the placement news of IIT Madras gained notice.
According to Singh’s estimate, there may be more unplaced students at the IITs this year than in prior years. These conclusions came from the RTI data he acquired.
2,100 students registered for placement options, according to the 2024 graduating class placement report. Of these, 950 students are still seeking employment offers, while 1,150 students have successfully obtained positions in either Phase 1 or Phase 2.
Based on the existing placement trend, Singh has estimated that 45.2% of registered students may not be placed out of these.
The final placement data, according to IIT Madras, will only be accessible during the convocation at the end of July 2024. These assertions have been denied.
