Aaryan Shukla, an eighth-grader, accomplished a stunning feat when he set a Guinness World Record for the “fastest time to mentally add 50 five-digit numbers.” This accomplishment added another feather to his cap. Aaryan, a student of Delhi Public School Nashik, set the record on February 29, 2024, in Milan, Italy, on the Italian TV programme “Lo Show Dei Record,” doing so in a mere 25.19 seconds.

According to a news statement from DPS Nashik, the young maths prodigy has previously received recognition for his abilities. Aaryan represented India among the top 40 human calculators from 20 different countries globally in the Mental Calculation World Cup in Paderborn, Germany, in 2022, where he was crowned the “World Champion.”

Not only that, but in 2018 at the Memorial Turkey Open Championship in Istanbul, Turkey, at the age of 8, Aaryan represented India and won 10 medals, including 7 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze, and 2 kids world records. According to the press release, Aaryan holds the record for most medals won in a single competition at Memorial.

Interestingly, Aaryan was a founding board member of the Global Mental Calculators society (GMCA), an elite global society of mental calculators with a diversified geographic base that aims to promote and enhance mental calculation.

Chief Learner and Director of DPS Nashik Siddharth Rajgarhia praised Aaryan for his accomplishment and stated that his most recent success is a source of tremendous pride for the country.
