Nasser Hussain on rumors that Virat Kohli may miss the remainder of the England Test series: a blow for India and the cricket world. If Virat Kohli misses any of the final three Test matches against England, it will be a “big blow” for both India and international cricket, according to former player Nasser Hussain.
India has not yet announced their lineups for the remaining Test matches, but rumors have been circulating that Kohli will miss at least two of them.
Following his withdrawal from the first two Test matches in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam due to “personal reasons,” Rajat Patidar was selected to take Kohli’s position.
“The game must take care of Kohli.”
Yes, all of it is currently unconfirmed. There is conjecture that in the next hours, they will reveal their team, be it for the upcoming two Test matches. It’s unclear if this will affect the upcoming three Test matches, but it will be a setback nonetheless.
It will be detrimental to India. The series will suffer as a result. World cricket will suffer as a result. This will be no ordinary series. It has already occurred. According to Hussain, “The first two games have been fascinating,” Sky Sports reported.
Praised as one of the greatest of all time, Hussain stated that after more than fifteen years of service to his country, Kohli deserved a break from the game.
“And there’s no denying that Kohli is among the best batters in history, and any team or series would be sad to lose someone with his caliber of play.
First things first, though, and players like Kohli must be taken care of by the game. He’s been an international cricket player for over 15 years. He said, “It’s just a matter of taking a little time off the game to spend with family when he needs it.”
“The family must come first.”
Hussain has earlier discussed the tantalising matchup between Kohli and the perennial James Anderson in the next games of the series. He did concede, though, that Kohli’s personal life is just as significant as his cricket career.
Hussain also stated that KL Rahul, who missed the second Test because of soreness in his right quadriceps, ought to rejoin the Indian squad.
We hope the best for Kohli. That’s OK; it means there won’t be the tantalizing prospect of an Anderson-Kohli competition like there has been in the past. However, you have to put Kohli, his family, and his personal life first. For India, this is a setback.
“However, as we’ve seen, they have a lot of really good young batsmen. And again, we can speculate, KL Rahul, who was hurt in the most recent game but has been playing brilliantly for India in all formats lately, will return, so he’ll add to their batting,” Hussain said.
India lost the first Test match by 28 runs in Hyderabad, but they won the second match by an overwhelming 106 runs in Visakhapatnam to tie the series.
The second Test match is slated to begin at Rajkot’s Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium on February 15.
