The Indian shuttler’s ranking will be determined by the outcomes of his two remaining Group L matches. In the meantime, Lakshya Sen’s upcoming matchup with Julien Carraggi is set for July 29.

Lakshya beat Kevin Cordon 21-8, 22-20 earlier on Saturday in the Group L round of the 2017 Paris Olympics. The 42-minute match ended with Lakshya winning in straight sets.

The Indian shuttler won the opening game in 14 minutes, 21-8, and was off to a great start. With four game points and a decisive advantage in the second, Cordon turned things around. To end the game and match, the 22-year-old Indian, however, turned things around by winning six straight points.

Meanwhile, master marksman Manu Bhaker won bronze in the 10 Metre Women’s Air Pistol event on Sunday, giving India its first medal at the Olympics in Paris.

The 22-year-old made Olympic history by becoming the first Indian woman to win a shooting medal.

With a score of 221.7, Bhaker secured the bronze medal, bringing home India’s first medal in the ongoing mega event.

Manu’s redemption story began when her pistol broke during the Tokyo Olympics. She created history by being the first Indian woman to compete in an individual Olympic shooting event since Suma Shirur in 2004 and the first to do so in 20 years.

Ye Jin of South Korea set an Olympic record with 243.2 points to win the gold medal. Kim Yeji, a fellow countryman, had to settle for silver with 241.3 points.

Bhaker qualified for Saturday’s final of the 2017 Paris Olympics by placing third in the Women’s 10 Metre Air Pistol qualification round on the first day of competition. While Rhythm Sangwan, who placed fifteenth overall, was unable to advance to the final.
