JEE Main 2024: NTA releases test norms, and over 12 lakh people register for session I
The Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) will have its first session starting today, January 24, starting with the paper 2 exam. The BArch (2A) and BPlanning (2B) examinations are part of the JEE Main paper 2. Exams for JEE Main paper 1 will start on January 27.
This year, the JEE Main 2024 exam will be administered in two stages: in January and in April. The JEE Main 2024 application for the second session will open on February 2 and finish on March 2, 2024. The results of the JEE Main session 1 exam will be announced in February.
This time, applicants taking the JEE Main 2024 exam will also be required to submit to biometric attendance following bathroom breaks and frisking.
It was previously advised to the candidates to register using DigiLocker/ABC ID. On the day of the JEE Main 2024 exam, candidates who did not register using the DigiLocker / ABC ID or who opted for non-Aadhaar authentication methods must report early. To get their biometrics taken, candidates must be at the JEE Main 2024 exam site at least one hour early.
JEE Main 2024: Essential items to pack
The JEE Main 2024 admit card will be required for candidates to carry. The URL for the JEE Main admit card 2024 is jeemain.nta.ac.in.
Apart from the JEE Main 2024 admission card, applicants must also bring an original picture identity document.
– The attendance sheet must also have one passport-sized photo pasted on it. The passport-sized photo that is uploaded along with the online JEE Main application form must match.
Items that JEE Main 2024 prohibited
The JEE Main exam center will not accept the following items: slide rules, log tables, cameras, tape recorders, pencil boxes, handbags, purses, any kind of paper, stationery, textual material, food, and water; mobile phones, ear phones, microphones, pagers, calculators, docupen; and metallic or electronic gadgets.

– However, the candidates would need to carry their own geometry box set, pencils, erasers, and colored pencils or crayons for the drawing paper of JEE Main paper 2. Watercolors cannot be used by the candidates on the drawing sheet.
– Food items such as fruit (bananas, apples, oranges), sugar pills, and clear water bottles will be permitted for diabetic pupils to carry. But they won’t be permitted to bring packaged meals like sandwiches, chocolates, candies, etc.
When exiting the JEE Main exam room, the properly completed JEE Main admit card must be placed in the specified drop box. The NTA stated that failing to do so could lead to your responses not being evaluated.
Paper 1 (BE/BTech), Paper 2A (BArch), and Paper 2B (BPlanning) exams last three hours each. Additionally, it takes three hours and thirty minutes to complete both the BArch and BPlanning papers combined. Today, starting at 3 pm, the second shift of the JEE Main paper 2 exam will take place. The time frame for the morning shift papers is 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
