The Congress seems to be taking the fight to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s strongholds as the 2019 Lok Sabha elections near. The next meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the party’s apex decision-making body, is set to be held in Gujarat,on 28th of this month at Gandhinagar and mammoth JanSampark rally will be held at noon.
Addressing a press conference at GPCC, today ,state party president MR. Amit chavda informed that newly appointed Congress general secretary for eastern Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is all set to address her maiden public rally in PM Modi’s home turf, Gujarat. Along with Priyanka Gandhi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi and her mother UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Former PM Manmohansingh will also address the rally. All CMs of Congress ruled states and all senior leaders of state Congress will be there. Thus This will be a historical rally at Trimandir Ground, Adalaj in Gandhinagar, following the 51st Congress Working Committee (CWC) meet of the Congress party.
The CWC, the highest decision making body of the Congress party will discuss poll strategy and the roadmap for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, said Chavda and Leader of opposition party Mr. Paresh Dhanani.
“The preparations are in full swing for the rally which will be the biggest in Gujarat’s history,” said Both leaders adding that on the one hand, the resentment against Modi and the BJP is rising in Gujarat and on the other, the enthusiasm among the people and party cadres is on an all-time high.
“This will be the first time that the people of Gujarat will see Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi from the same podium. It is going to be the biggest rally in recent times,” both said enthusiastically.
The decision by the top Congress leadership to hold the CWC meeting in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state is being seen as a deft strategic move ahead of crucial elections, more so with party chief Rahul Gandhi trying to take on Narendra Modi directly on a series of issues, including the controversy around the Rafale fighter jet deal.
The previous CWC meeting was held in BJP-ruled Maharashtra’s Wardha district. The meeting also marked the beginning of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary celebrations. Senior party leaders said that Gujarat was an obvious choice given that it was also the home state of Gandhi.
