5th T20I between IND and AUS: Scorecard | Highlights

With Yashashvi Jaiswal making a 21 off of 15 balls before being removed by Jason Behrendorff, India got off to a strong start. After being removed on 10, Ruturaj Gaikwad was unable to surpass Virat Kohli’s record for the most runs scored by an Indian in a bilateral Twenty20 International series.

Shreyas Iyer struck 53 runs off of 37 balls for an incredible half-century. After an outstanding T20I series, Rinku Singh was experiencing a rare batting collapse.

India put on a late flourish thanks to scores of 24 and 31, respectively, from Jitesh Sharma and Axar Patel, as the hosts finished the first innings at 160 for 8.

Thanks to early, outstanding bowling performances by Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, and Mukesh Kumar, India managed to defend 161 runs. Bishnoi claimed two wickets, while Mukesh claimed three. Axar was declared the “Player of the Match” despite only taking out one wicket, Tim David, in four overs with just 14 runs conceded.

After going for runs in his opening over, Arshdeep Singh returned to win the match for India by defending 10 runs in the last over. Ben McDermott led the visitors in scoring with a brilliant 54 off of 36 balls.

Suryakumar expressed in a video released by the BCCI that he is happy to have won the series in his role as captain. Suryakumar captained India for the first time in a bilateral series, helping the Men in Blue defeat the Australians 4-1.

“Clearly feeling ridiculous following the series victory. And it feels good, too, as a captain. It’s a fresh perspective on life. It feels good, and the players and support staff have helped me too,” Suryakumar remarked.

He continued praising Bishnoi, emphasizing that he demonstrated class character and that he has been performing well on a regular basis. Bishnoi’s nine wickets in five games earned him the title of “Player of the Series.”

“It’s a huge deal that Axar has won Player of the Match twice in a row. Ravi Bishnoi has demonstrated consistent success. It was fantastic how he bounced back from his first game to win Player of the Series. He has demonstrated his class character, Suryakumar continued.

After defeating Australia in a series, India is ready to head to South Africa to start the Twenty20 International series on Sunday, December 10.
