England women’s captain Heather Knight has been reprimanded and issued a suspended 1,000 pounds ($1,334) fine after she admitted to a charge over a 2012 social media post, England’s Cricket Regulator said on Monday.

“Acts or omissions prejudicial to the interests of cricket or which may bring cricket/cricketers into disrepute” is the subject of ECB directive 3.3, which was violated by the insulting photo.

When Knight attended a fancy dress party at a Kent cricket club in 2012, she was captured wearing blackface in a social media post.

According to ECB regulation 3.3, which prohibits “acts or omissions prejudicial to the interests of cricket or which may bring cricket/cricketers into disrepute,” the photo was considered insulting and violated the rule.

However, Knight was found to have “no racist or discriminatory intent” in the Cricket Discipline Commission (CDC) findings.

At the time of the occurrence, Knight was 21 years old. She expressed regret for her naivete and insisted that the incident was not motivated by malice.

Knight apologised sincerely for the error he made in 2012, according to a statement released by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

“I have long regretted doing it; it was wrong. I was just not as aware of the ramifications and consequences of my behaviour back then as I am now. Nothing bad was intended.

“Although I am powerless to alter the past, I am devoted to using my platform to advance inclusivity in the game and make sure that under-represented groups have the same access to opportunities and fulfilment as I have.”

The 33-year-old, who was named England’s captain in 2016, will serve as the team’s captain for the forthcoming women’s T20 World Cup, which gets underway in the United Arab Emirates on October 3.
