In response to the Fab Four that included Steve Smith, Joe Root, Virat Kohli, and him, Kane Williamson said he is “a big fan of…”

Since 2021, Joe Root has amassed 4567 runs in 49 Tests, including 17 hundreds. This is half of his total score since he started playing in Tests in 2012.

First Kane Williamson, a batsman from New Zealand, shared his thoughts on the recent ascension of Joe Root and the elite four of cricket. Over the previous ten years, the most reliable performers have been the “fab four”: Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Joe Root, and Kane Williamson. As an all-around batsman, Indian sensation Virat Kohli has an advantage over other players; but, in the past several years, he has not performed as well in Test cricket, which has allowed his rivals to advance.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, former England captain Root has demonstrated remarkable consistency in red-ball cricket. Since 2021, the Englishman has played 49 Tests and scored 4567 runs, including 17 hundreds. This is half of his total score from his Test career, which started in 2012. With 922 rating points, he is now listed as the best ICC Test batter as well.

Williamson acknowledged that Rohit has been something special in Test cricket for a long time. Williamson has also been in incredible form this year, amassing 480 runs in four Test matches. He also praised Smith and Kohli, the other two Fab Four members, for elevating the game to new heights.

The New Zealand player, who is anticipated to do great things in the upcoming years, did not hold back in describing himself as a huge fan of Root due to his outstanding batting.

“You brought up Joe Root. For a long time, he was someone else. A lot of people are interested in what he could accomplish in the coming years, and it’s amazing that he can convert at all. He has excelled beyond measure. I have always thought highly of him. Not only him but also Steven Smith and Virat Kohli, the other men. Amazing how they’ve kind of advanced the game significantly,” Williamson said to reporters at Root’s Greater Noida location.

Kane Williamson prepared to take on the subcontinent

Six Tests will be played in sub-continental conditions, with New Zealand hosting a one-off Test against Afghanistan in Greater Noida. Following the Test against Afghanistan, New Zealand will play two Tests in Sri Lanka before returning to India for a three-match series.

Williamson is aware that the Kiwis may face a number of obstacles at this time.

“There are going to be several challenges for us to overcome. However, this is our team’s chance to come together as a unit and look at the kinds of experiences we will have over the next two and a half months, and we will be stronger for it. It’s a thrilling chance. It’s good to be here getting ready for the first test. We want to try to become accustomed to those conditions by taking those baby steps,” he continued.
