Over the previous ten years, the most reliable performers have been the “fab four”: Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Joe Root, and Kane Williamson. As an all-around batsman, Indian sensation Virat Kohli has an advantage over other players; but, in the past several years, he has not performed as well in Test cricket, which has allowed his rivals to advance.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, former England captain Root has demonstrated remarkable consistency in red-ball cricket. Since 2021, the Englishman has played 49 Tests and scored 4567 runs, including 17 hundreds. This is half of his total score from his Test career, which started in 2012. With 922 rating points, he is now listed as the best ICC Test batter as well.

Six Tests will be played in sub-continental conditions, with New Zealand hosting a one-off Test against Afghanistan in Greater Noida. Following the Test against Afghanistan, New Zealand will play two Tests in Sri Lanka before returning to India for a three-match series.
Williamson is aware that the Kiwis may face a number of obstacles at this time.
“There are going to be several challenges for us to overcome. However, this is our team’s chance to come together as a unit and look at the kinds of experiences we will have over the next two and a half months, and we will be stronger for it. It’s a thrilling chance. It’s good to be here getting ready for the first test. We want to try to become accustomed to those conditions by taking those baby steps,” he continued.
