Lakshya Sen is still in the running for a bronze medal in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
On the ninth day, India’s athletes competed in sports like hockey, badminton, and athletics. Lakshya Sen will now compete for the bronze medal in badminton after falling to reigning champion Viktor Axerlsen 20-22 14-21. Following the loss, he stated, “I think as the game was going on from the start and in the first set especially, he started attacking more towards the end, so I think became passive when I was defending, and I think at that time I should have taken chances and attacked.”

“Although it is heartbreaking, I also believe that there is a lot more to play for tomorrow, and I will be ready and prepared. I believed that the opening game was pivotal and could have ended the first set. Perhaps in the third set, I would have had a chance. Overall though, it was a fantastic match, and he performed well,” he continued.
He said, “I will carry over whatever good I want in the next match and there are some things to learn from this one.”
In the meantime, Parul Chaudhary was eliminated in the first round of the women’s 3000m steeplechase after placing eighth. The men’s hockey team played as well; they defeated Great Britain in their quarterfinal match on penalties. Vijayveer Sidhu and Anish Bhanwala, meanwhile, were unable to advance to the 25-meter men’s rapid fire pistol final. More heartbreak followed when Lovlina Borgohain’s loss in the women’s 75kg quarterfinal battle put an end to India’s boxing campaign.
