Education Minister Dharmendra says, “NTA to be strengthened”: Amidst a continuing dispute over the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) and the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate 2024 (NEET-UG), Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan declared that “reconsidering important things” would strengthen the National Testing Agency even more.
The Minister of Education also promised to take action against individuals in charge of the purported anomalies in the way the exams were administered.
In an interview with ANI on Thursday, Pradhan stated, “Everyone has their opinions in a democracy. We have a duty to hear what everyone has to say. It is our duty to administer a government that is guided by procedures and to tell the truth as we understand it. We will have to accept that very few pupils have concerns about the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Experts will be included in the committee that the administration has agreed to assemble. The NTA will be significantly strengthened and all significant issues will be reexamined. “Those who are in charge of these discrepancies will face consequences,” he declared.
The Minister of Education had earlier declared that a high-level committee will be established to look into the problems related to NTA’s operation.
At a conference earlier on Thursday, Pradhan stated, “We are committed to holding zero-error exams, and a high-level committee is being formed to improve NTA functioning.”

“With regard to NEET, a procedural error led to the first disparity being discovered, which concerned the grace mark. A few students became agitated, people went to court, and panic spread. Later, in order to reexamine the students who received grace marks, the National Testing Agency (NTA) filed a new appeal with the court. Thus, the primary problem pertaining to NEET has been resolved,” he stated.
“Then, certain problems from Patna surfaced. Thanks to prompt action, everyone involved was apprehended, and additional investigation is still in progress. To bring it to a rational conclusion, authorities from the central and Bihar governments are collaborating,” the Minister of Education told ANI.
With reference to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s criticism of the federal government on the matter, Pradhan said, “I don’t find it appropriate to comment anything on that today.”
“I am in charge of the department of education. I reassure the students that we will work to find solutions because I am aware of their circumstances. It’s our government’s fault. “Have faith,” stated the Minister of Education.
Attacking the NDA administration at the center over the NEET-UG and UGC-NET difficulties, Rahul Gandhi claimed earlier on Thursday that the education system and all vice-chancellors have been taken over by the BJP’s “parent organization” (RSS), which is the cause of the paper leaks.
Paper leaks, according to Rahul Gandhi, will not stop until the BJP’s “institutional capture” is undone. He further charged Prime Minister Narendra Modi with “facilitating” this capture. “This is an anti-national activity because this is the future of the country and the youth of the country are facing the brunt of it,” the Member of Parliament for the Congress stated.
“The PM is disabled, which is why the government is silent. The PM’s primary agenda item at the moment is the (election of) Speaker. The Speaker and his government are bothering him. He continued, “The PM will find it difficult to lead a government in this state as he has psychologically collapsed.
According to the Minister of Education, the UGC-NET exam problem has already been resolved, and a CBI investigation has been launched.
“This is your government, I would like to assure the students.” Have faith—student interest is crucial to our success. In their comments on UGC-NET yesterday evening, IC4 raised the likelihood that the test was tampered with. After investigating, we concluded that there was a compromise with the exam. We canceled the test and opened a CBI investigation,” Pradhan said to ANI.
The Education Ministry canceled the UGC-NET exam scheduled for June 18 in the midst of a tremendous uproar, stating that it might have compromised its integrity and that it would not hesitate to take legal action against anyone.
In advance of the June 14 announcement date, the NEET-UG 2024 exam was administered on May 5 and the results were announced on June 4. Up to 67 pupils had topped the exam with a perfect score of 720, prompting protests claiming irregularities and paper leaks.
