President Murmu Celebrates International Yoga Day: The 10th International Yoga Day event, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was due to conduct yoga, was ruined by rain on Friday in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. The event was set to take place on the banks of Dal Lake. Subsequently, he was spotted doing yoga at Srinagar’s Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC). This is his first trip to Jammu and Kashmir since taking office for the third time in a row.

The celebration’s theme for this year, “Yoga for Self and Society,” highlights the benefits of yoga for both individual and collective wellness. The goal of the Srinagar event is to encourage grassroots involvement and spread awareness of yoga in rural areas.

Modi took part in the Yoga Day celebration at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), which is situated in Srinagar on the shores of Dal Lake.

The prime minister has spearheaded events in a number of famous locations since the International Day of Yoga was established in 2014, including the UN headquarters in New York and the Kartavya Path in Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Ranchi, Lucknow, and Mysuru.

International Day of Yoga

Every year on June 21, the International Day of Yoga (IDY) is commemorated to raise awareness of the enormous health and wellbeing benefits of yoga. The United Nations instituted this observance in 2014.

During his 2014 speech to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Prime Minister Modi put up the concept of a worldwide day devoted to yoga. The UNGA established a resolution designating June 21 as “International Yoga Day” in December 2014.

As per the United Nations, yoga is an age-old Indian discipline that encompasses physical, mental, and spiritual aspects. The Sanskrit word “yoga,” which means “to join or unite,” denotes the fusion of the physical and mental selves.
