Shoaib Malik: Babar Azam should resign from leading Pakistan: In the current T20 World Cup, Pakistan’s all-rounder Shoaib Malik has taken aim at skipper Babar Azam and the senior players’ batting strategy after the team lost by six runs to India.
Some veteran cricketers were incensed by Pakistan’s remarkable collapse in the run chase after their bowlers reduced India to a below-average total of 119, and even after their dependable anchor Mohammad Rizwan was out, they had six wickets in hand while chasing 40 runs from 35 balls.
“I’ve been pleading with you to step down from captaincy for a while now. You are a class player, and you can only demonstrate this to your classmates when you have no other obligations. It will be beneficial for Babar if he refrains from taking up the captaincy, Shoaib Malik stated on Ten Sports.
When it came to Pakistan’s batting performance, particularly that of two of their more experienced players, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, the former captain Malik did not hold back.
“You brought in Saim Ayub because people keep talking about Babar and Rizwan’s strike rates,” Malik remarked.
“Why were you attempting to increase your strike rate yesterday? It was a 120 chase. The stage was ready in every way. If your brain does activate in these kinds of circumstances as a batter and a leader, when will it do so? Today, I feel compelled to state that we should no longer support this team’s core in the Twenty20 International format, Malik continued.
Malik questioned Mohammad Rizwan’s choice of shots in the match against India as well.
“I didn’t comprehend Rizwan’s shot. Since Rizwan has been playing and captaining in the PSL for such a long time, he should be conversant with the circumstances and raise his hand to declare, “This is my match,” he added. “They brought back their main bowler to pick up a wicket.”
At New York’s Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, Pakistan will play Canada.
