Archery World Cup: Indian women compound archers win gold. On Saturday, May 25, the Indian team consisting of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Parneet Kaur, and Aditi Swami won the gold medal in the Archery World Cup for the third time in a row after defeating Turkey.

At the stage two event in South Korea, the Indian team consisting of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Parneet Kaur, and Aditi Swami won their third consecutive World Cup gold medal by defeating Turkey 232-226 in the women’s compound team final.

The top-ranked Indian compound women’s team defeated Turkey’s Hazal Burun, Ayse Bera Suzer, and Begum Yuva from the very first end, winning the gold with a commanding six-point margin without dropping a set.

This made Jyothi, Parneet, and world champion Aditi the trio of winners of three World Cup gold medals. They defeated Italy to win the first World Cup stage in Shanghai, and they also took home the gold at the event’s stage four in Paris last year.

Later in the day, when Jyothi and Priyansh play the USA in the compound mixed team final, India will be aiming for a second gold medal of the championship.

World Cup: Indian Archers Shine

Earlier at the Archery World Cup, the Indian men’s recurve team defeated the defending champions, South Korea, in a historic triumph. Their chances of winning the future Olympics in Paris are improved by this victory, which is their first over South Korea in a World Cup final.

In a historic victory, the Indian men’s recurve team consisting of Dhiraj Bommadevara, Tarundeep Rai, and Pravin Jadhav stunned South Korea, the defending Olympic champions, to win the gold medal in the Archery World Cup after a 14-year absence.

Without dropping a set, Dhiraj, Tarundeep, and Pravin defeated the formidable Koreans with a cool-headedness. In August 2010, Tarundeep, a 40-year-old member of the Army, participated in the Shanghai World Cup Stage 4 gold medal winning squad. Then, Rahul Banerjee, Tarundeep, and Jayanta’s recurve team triumphed over Japan.

India defeated the top two seeds in the competition 5-1 (57-57, 57-55, 55-53), increasing their tally of gold medals at the first Stage 1 World Cup of the season. The mixed team of Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj, who defeated Alejandra Valencia and Matias Grande of Mexico 6-0 (35-31, 38-35, 39-37) to earn bronze, was also boosted by their triumph.

India has won five gold, one silver, and one bronze medal total to date. Deepika Kumari, the former top player in the world, is aiming for a second medal and will compete in the women’s recurve solo quarterfinal later in the day. India faced its rival South Korea in the men’s team final, which included Kim Woojin and Kim Je Deok, two members of the team that won gold in the Olympics in Tokyo. The third member was Lee Woo Seok.
