The 10th season of the Indian Super League came to an end as Mumbai City FC defeated Mohun Bagan Super Giant at home thanks to goals in the second half from Jorge Pereyra Diaz, Bipin Singh, and Jakub Vojtus in front of a full house.

Mumbai City FC won the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023–24 Cup in the final held in Kolkata after defeating Mohun Bagan Super Giant 3–1 at Salt Lake Stadium. Jason Cummings gave the Mariners the lead late in the first half, but the Islanders rallied to tie the score. In front of an overflowing stadium, goals in the second half from Jorge Pereyra Diaz, Bipin Singh, and Jakub Vojtus made sure the Petr Kratky-coached team ended the 10th ISL season with a victory over the host team.

Similar to the ISL 2020–21 final, which had both of these teams playing in a summit match, Bipin Singh scored in the 81st minute to enable his team exact revenge on the opponents they lost to in the title match at this particular stadium. Mumbai City FC emerged victorious from the inaugural ISL grand finale, which took place in Kolkata. The squad has defeated the Mariners in both of its ISL finals.

In the first half, both teams played it safe, concentrating on maintaining their composure, playing to their advantages, and limiting the amount of possession that the other team could exploit. But Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s potent scoring tandem of Dimitrios Petratos and Cummings won the game in the end.

This campaign, Petratos hasn’t shied away from taking long-range shots to see how things turn out. He fired a shot as the first half of the match was coming to an end that took Mumbai City FC custodian Phurba Lachenpa by surprise. The custodian mishandled the attempt, and Cummings was there to seize the opportunity in the 44th minute and make sure his team had the lead going into halftime.

It was only logical for the Islanders to decide to change things up in the second half. Eight minutes into the second half, they tried something different, having Alberto Noguera pass the ball long to their Argentine attacker Jorge Pereyra Diaz. Diaz’s astute offensive instincts were evident as he gently brought the ball down and manoeuvred close to bringing the ball down coolly, cutting close to Vishal Kaith, and putting it in the back of the net to tie the score.

The visitors’ comeback was sparked by an unpleasant knock that Diaz received in the 72nd minute. Vojtus, a Slovak striker, took the player’s position on the pitch and was instrumental in both of Mumbai City FC’s subsequent goals.
