For the Indian Premier League 2024, the Delhi Capitals have named their new captain. After missing a year of action due to a deadly car accident, Rishabh Pant has rejoined the team as captain, taking David Warner’s place. After a 14-month break, the wicketkeeper is playing competitive cricket again and is putting in a lot of effort in the Vizag pre-season camp.
Pant last participated in a cricket match in December 2022. He had to recover from several injuries over an extended period of time through rehabilitation.
The Board of Control for Cricket deemed Pant fit prior to the Indian Premier League. The fans have been waiting for Rishabh’s return, so the Delhi Capitals move is exciting news.
The teenage batter never stopped updating the crowd on his recuperation. He was assigned to Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy.
Parth Jindal, chairman and co-owner of DC, said that Pant persevered throughout his recuperation.
“We are thrilled to have Rishabh Pant join us as captain. His perseverance and bravery have always benefited the franchise greatly. Jindal remarked, “I’m excited to watch him play for the Delhi Capitals.”
David Warner led the Delhi Capitals in the 2023 Indian Premier League. Just 5 of DC’s 14 games were won. The franchise added Jhye Richardson, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Tristan Stubbs, and Kumar Kushagra this season.
On March 23, DC will take on Punjab Kings in their first game.
