The Rohit Sharma-led hosts saw a number of benefits from the India vs. England Test series. Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel’s debuts helped the Indian cricket team even though stars like Mohammed Shami and Virat Kohli were not playing. Together with the seniors, they did a creditable job representing themselves as India won the five-match series 4-1. One of India’s most impressive performers was Kuldeep Yadav. With 19 wickets, the left-arm wrist spinner tied for third place in the top wicket-taker rankings. More than anything else, though, his batting struck an impression on everyone.
Although his three scores of 25 or higher may not seem impressive, they have made a significant impact. He supported his team and made vital stands with India in tight situations.
“We are aware that Kuldeep has a certain quality when he bowls. He has simply improved over the past few years following his injury and his recovery in white-ball cricket. You can now witness his abilities in red-ball cricket as well. He knows what has to be done,” Rohit stated on Jio Cinema.
“He returned, worked here as well as with his coaches. Every time I watch him bowl, I see him place one stump there and simply get the accuracy down. And then, of course, I’ve had a lot of criticism for his batting. It’s me who has been encouraging him to bat well. When you bat at No. 8 or 9, it adds up, so go ahead and work out whatever he can. We are aware of how important it is to include those runs in the end. Additionally, he can bat and play a few shots,” he continued.
The way Shubman Gill and Kuldeep Yadav batted in Rajkot pleased Rohit.
“I’m quite pleased with his hitting. He has also been very important with the bat. We wanted that collaboration in Rajkot. I believe it was the morning of the fourth day, when he and Gill were batting there. Nevertheless, Gill was not entirely satisfied with that runout.
“Yet another thing that brings this team great joy is sharing in each other’s accomplishments. Instead of going after Kuldeep for that run, Gill was pretty pleased with how he batted when he came out. When he bats like that and puts runs on the board for us, it adds up for us. It adds another player to our lineup for batting,” he said.
