IND vs. AFG: Axar Patel wants to qualify for the T20 World Cup by doing well in the England Test series and IPL 2024.

All-rounder Axar Patel, who was forced to miss the ODI World Cup due to an injury, is looking to put on a good display in the IPL 2024 and the five-match Test series against England to resurrect his prospects of joining the India squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 in June.

Axar let up 23 runs in four overs while taking two wickets in the opening Twenty20 International against Afghanistan on Thursday in Mohali.Axar Patel wants to qualify for the T20 World Cup by doing well

“It is my responsibility to fully commit to both the process and my work ethics. I don’t think too much about the World Cup team selection because if I did, I would be placing too much pressure on myself.

At the press conference following the game, Axar stated, “I want to concentrate on the IPL right now. We also have a Test series against England coming up soon.”

There are just two more Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) for India before the World Cup, which will be held in the United States and the West Indies. Axar knows that too many teams would be fighting for an India spot.

Yes, we have the IPL after the final two Twenty20 Internationals before the World Cup. “I am aware that there is fierce competition for a World Cup spot in the Indian team, but my competition is with myself, and I want to concentrate on developing my skill sets,” he continued.

According to Axar, the process of honing his skill level started during his stay at the NCA for rehabilitation.

“I regret missing the World Cup due to an injury I sustained during the tournament. However, I attempted to develop my game and took it positively.

During my tenure at the NCA, I worked on projects involving line and length, slower ball, and other variants. Since we don’t have as many options as a leg-spinner like Googly, I was attempting to add something more to my left-arm spin bowling.

However, I wanted to improve my bowling by that extra five or ten percent,” Axar continued.
