SAP MM Consultant
Working with the SAP ERP system, a SAP MM (Materials Management) consultant’s job is to optimize and streamline an organization’s inventory and procurement management procedures. The following are some of the main duties and obligations connected to the position of a SAP MM consultant:
Business Process Analysis:
- Understand the client’s business processes related to procurement, inventory management, and materials planning.
- Analyze and document current business processes to identify areas for improvement.
Implementation and Configuration:
- Configure SAP MM module based on the client’s requirements.
- Implement and customize SAP MM functionalities to align with business processes.
- Ensure integration with other SAP modules like SAP SD (Sales and Distribution), SAP WM (Warehouse Management), and SAP PP (Production Planning).
Master Data Administration:
- Oversee and preserve master data pertaining to supplies, suppliers, and purchase records.
- Maintain accuracy and consistency in your data to facilitate efficient business processes.
Procurement Processes:
- Configure and optimize procurement processes such as purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and goods receipt.
- Implement procurement strategies and support the development of sourcing and procurement plans.
Inventory Management:
- Set up and manage inventory control procedures.
- Optimize inventory levels to ensure efficient supply chain management.
- Implement stock valuation methods and manage material movements.
Vendor Management:
- Configure and manage vendor master data.
- Support the evaluation and selection of vendors.
- Implement vendor performance monitoring and management processes.
Reporting and Analytics:
- Develop and customize reports to provide insights into procurement and inventory-related KPIs.
- Use SAP Business Intelligence tools to create dashboards and analytics.
User Training and Support:
- Conduct training sessions for end-users to ensure proper utilization of SAP MM functionalities.
- Provide ongoing support for system-related issues and enhancements.
Testing and Documentation:
- Perform system testing to validate configurations and customizations.
- Document configuration changes, business processes, and system functionalities.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on SAP MM module updates and new features.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in business processes and SAP system usage.
