Tennis Premier League: After defeating Bengal Wizards, Bengaluru SG Mavericks were proclaimed the winners of Season 5. The Bengaluru Mavericks defeated the Bengal Wizards on December 19 to win the title on the penultimate day of the fifth season of the Tennis Premier League.

A thrilling match between Delhi Binny’s Brigade and the Bengaluru SG Mavericks opened the semi-finals. Arina Rodionova of Bengaluru defeated Sahaja Yamalapalli by a slim margin of 11-9 in a fiercely contested match.

The Men’s Singles saw more action as Bengaluru’s Ramkumar Ramanathan defeated Denis Novak with a score of 12-8, showcasing his skills.

With the same score of 11–9, the Mavericks prevailed again in the Mixed Doubles match against Sahaja Yamalapalli and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan, courtesy of Arina Rodionova and Vishnu Vardhan.

In spite of this loss, the Mavericks scored 41 points to secure their spot in the championship game. Ramanathan was named Player of the Match for his outstanding play.

The Bengal Wizards and Punjab Patriots faced off in the opposite semi-final bracket. Maria Timofeeva of the Wizards defeated Conny Perrin 12–8 in the finals. With a score of 13–7, Sriram Balaji of the Wizards defeated Digvijay Pratap Singh in the Men’s Singles.

Timofeeva and Anirudh Chandrasekar of the Wizards and Arjun Kadhe of the Patriots tied each other in the Mixed Doubles, resulting in a draw that ended at 10-all.

With a score of 5-8, Singh and Kadhe defeated Balaji and Chandrasekar in the Men’s Doubles final.

The highly anticipated championship game saw a display of talent and perseverance between the Bengaluru SG Mavericks and the Bengal Wizards. In the Women’s Singles, Timofeeva of the Wizards defeated Rodionova of the Mavericks, 9–11.

Rodionova and Vardhan put up a strong show in the Mixed Doubles, defeating Timofeeva and Chandrasekar of the Wizards by a commanding score of 14-6.

The Mavericks had the momentum going for them going into the final Men’s Doubles match, needing just 7 points to win the title.

With their quick completion of the required points to win the TPL season 5 championship, Ramanathan and Vardhan did not let us down, declaring the Bengaluru SG Mavericks the winners of an incredible and unforgettable season.
