Additionally, the coaches allocated to the India A squad are there to support the ODI squad; they are not first choice.
The ICC Champions Trophy is set for February 2025, and the next 50-over World Cup is only in 2027, so the attention is mostly on the T20 World Cup, which is less than six months away. It’s also possible that the ODI series is only a component of the tournament audition procedure. Furthermore, the 50-over format all but disappears at this point because every game is a chance to earn points towards the World Test Championship.
