“Novak is Novak”: Alcaraz envisions himself winning the ATP Finals as the “best player.” Semifinals await Djokovic. After defeating Daniil Medvedev 6-4, 6-4 on Friday to set up a semifinal matchup with Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz is dreaming of winning the ATP Finals."Novak is Novak": Alcaraz envisions himself winning the ATP Finals as the "best player."

Alcaraz struggled with form and injuries going into his first Finals participation, but he has improved as the competition has gone on and is now a real threat in the semi-finals, which include the top four players in the world.

Even though there are only two matches, the distance is still too great. Novak is in my semifinal lineup. Alcaraz told reporters, “If I win that match, I have a really tough final.”

“Winning this tournament is what I’m dreaming about. Not at all? However, I must give it my all in the semifinals first.”

To guarantee a place in the round of four, world number two Alcaraz had to win, and he did so admirably, easily defeating Medvedev, who had looked incredibly impressive in his previous two triumphs in Turin.

Regardless of the outcome of Alexander Zverev’s late match against Andrey Rublev, which he won 6-4, 6-4, he secured first position in the Red Group ahead of Medvedev with his straight-set victory.

Alcaraz also earned a tiny bit of payback for losing to Medvedev in the US Open semifinals. Medvedev finished second in the group despite having already earned a spot in the semifinals on Wednesday.

Alcaraz and Djokovic are developing a rivalry because the 20-year-old Spaniard defeated the top-ranked player in a thrilling five-set Wimbledon final and is already a two-time Grand Slam winner.

This Saturday’s semi-final matchup between him and Djokovic, who defeated Alcaraz en route to victory at Roland Garros and in the Cincinnati final, looks to be an incredible match.

“Novak is Novak, the greatest player in the world at the moment; he has only dropped six games all year, which speaks volumes about how amazing he is. “I’ll be bringing my A game,” Alcaraz declared.

After qualifying second in the Green Group, Djokovic is aiming for a record-breaking seventh Finals victory and has already locked up the top spot in the global rankings at the end of the year.

The 2020 Finals victor Medvedev will now take against home favorite Jannik Sinner, who on Thursday became the first Italian to ever make it to the tournament’s semifinals.

“First of all, at this moment he’s in top form… He can do everything,” Medvedev stated.

“Despite his incredible skill in this instance, he dropped two sets. I’m going to make an effort to play like the players that defeated him in the set.

“I need to definitely be at my absolute best and better than today, tomorrow.”

This season, the Russian and Sinner have squared off in four finals; they have split the two victories, with the Russian winning the most significant one back in April at the Miami Masters.
