Cracks between Alpesh Thakor and Hardik Patel surface
Close on the heels of violence against non-Gujarati particularly against North Indian Community in state during last week, This issue has taken political turn and the relationship between two young turks–Hardik Patel and Congress MLA Alpesh Thakor shows some crack in the heat of attacks.
A major disagreement between Patel quota stir leader Hardik Patel and Congress MLA Alpesh Thakor has come in the open about the most burning issue in the state.
Addressing the media about the rising attacks on migrants allegedly by Thakor Sena members, Patel said, “I completely disagree with Congress MLA and Thakor Sena leader Alpesh Thakor’s stand on the North Indian community. Violence against any particular community or targeting somebody is intolerable. The entire community should not be punished for one person.”
Earlier, Patel and Thakor had shown good bonds with each other during the Gujarat elections, sharing the same agenda to uproot BJP from the state.
Earlier, addressing the media in Himmtnagar, Alpesh had said that the Thakor community was venting their anger against the north Indian community because the locals were deprived of jobs because of the migrants.
While violence against migrants from north India, mainly labourers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, subsided in Gujarat, the politics over it peaked with the Congress saying that the Vijay Rupani-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government had failed to protect innocents in the state. Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel expressed apprehension that if such incidents were allowed to take place, the trend could spread to other regions as well.
“Innocent people should not be treated like this, they are also Indians. If this starts in a region, then it will happen in another region too; Mumbai is an example. If someone commits a crime, then the law should take its course,” Patel was quoted as saying by ANI.“If 1-2 persons have committed a crime, all the people should not be targeted. If they’re innocent, they should be protected. The state government should investigate and find a solution,” the Congress leader added.
