TMC Chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee got shot in arm when Bengal Imams’ Association described BJP and its saffron outfits against Muslims and Islam and urged Muslims not to join in BJP and RSS . The message of the imams’ association has created ripples in Bengal, which will go to polls next year.

Bengal Imams’ Association has warned Muslims against joining BJP or RSS, saying they would cease to be Muslim.chairman of the association, Md Yahiya, issued a long statement in which he said: “According to Hadith, if a Muslim participates in increasing the strength of the enemy of Islam, and joins them, the person cannot be treated as Muslim.”

In a statement issued on Friday, chairman of Bengal Imams Associations Mohammed Yahiya said the BJP’s stand, at present, was “anti-Islam and anti-Muslim”.

Yahiya urged them to stop associations with the BJP and the RSS, and said that ultimately they would not be spared. “In the future, our fight will be against the the RSS, the BJP and their associates. Will you applaud us then or carry the flags of RSS-BJP?” asked Yahiya.

The imam’s association said that it would initiate a movement in Bengal against the construction of Ram temple in Ayodha by demolishing the Babri mosque. The imams condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inaugurating the temple as a prime minister of a nation. “How could he do this? He bowed down to the floor of the Parliament stairs and took a pledge on the Indian Constitution. How could a prime minister inaugurate a temple?” asked Yahiya.

He  said the RSS had killed thousands of Muslims. “They have shown such destruction in Kashmir on August 5, 2019. Before that, they did similar things in Gujarat and Assam. They have hurt the sentiments of crores of Muslims by destroying a mosque to construct a temple. Is it building a nation?”

“Recently, the foundation stone was laid to construct a temple on a site that once hosted a mosque. So, it is clear that BJP and RSS are not friends of Muslims. A Muslim will not remain a Muslim if he remains with someone who is against Islam. Muslims who are members of RSS, VHP and its affiliated organisations need to think about their positions. They have to decide whether they want to remain with the BJP-RSS combine or rectify their mistakes. They must remember that in the days to come their families will not be spared,” Yahiya said in the statement.

The development comes days after Siddiqullah Chowdhury, Bengal’s Minister of State with independent charge for Mass Education Extension and Library Services, spoke against the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

“How can a temple be erected over a mosque? We are holding on to our patience, it is Allah’s mosque; it shall remain so till eternity. It does not matter if a temple is built and PM goes and lays its first stone,” Chowdhury said in a video message on behalf of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, Bengal unit.  (www.siyasat.net is Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India based website)
