Mohun Bagan is eliminated by the Asian Champions League since the team won’t go to Iran. A day before Iran launched a missile attack on Israel, ISL team Mohan Bagan was supposed to play Tractor FC in Tabriz. However, because to “security concerns,” the team decided not to travel, and the AFC declared that all Bagan results are “cancelled and considered null and void.”

AFC stated that Mohun Bagan's withdrawal would mean all their points and goals would stand at null, as will all future group matches. (X/Mohun Bagan Super Giant)

The Indian Super League team Mohun Bagan Super Giants were “considered to have withdrawn from the AFC Champions League Two” competition, according to a statement released by the Asian Football Confederation on Monday. This was due to their failure to travel to Iran for their Group B match against Tractor FC on October 2.

The decision was made concurrently with reports of ballistic missiles being seen above a stadium during a different AFC Champions League game between Sepahan and Istiklol Dushanbe. Moreover, airspace above Iran and other nations in the region was closed in the aftermath of the assaults.

But Bagan was fined by the Asian Football Association for missing the game.

The AFC said in a statement that the Indian club’s withdrawal will result in the nullification of all of their goals and points, as well as all upcoming group matches.

The Asian Football Confederation (the “AFC”) confirms that India’s Mohun Bagan Super Giant are considered to have withdrawn from the AFC Champions League TwoTM competition in accordance with Article 5.2 of the AFC Champions League TwoTM 2024/25 Competition Regulations (the “Competition Regulations”) after the club failed to report to Tabriz, Islamic Republic of Iran, for their AFC Champions League TwoTM Group A fixture against Tractor FC on October 2, 2024, according to the AFC statement.

Due to security concerns following the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon, Mohun Bagan declined to go to Tabriz. Tensions in the region have already increased as a result of Iran firing a flurry of missiles towards Israel on the eve of their match. Mohun Bagan had elected to not deploy their team prior to the launch of the missiles.
