After receiving trolling for “showing off” her Olympic bronze :-Manu Bhaker, who won two medals for India in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, has a straightforward message for haters.

Manu Bhaker, an Indian shooter, shot history at the Paris Olympics 2024 and went on to become the talk of the country. Manu, the greatest medal prospect for India in the shooting sport, exceeded all expectations by winning not one, but two medals. She became the first Indian Olympian in history to win multiple medals at a single Games when she took home bronze in the women’s mixed team and 10m air pistol events. After her incredible performance in Paris, Manu gained immediate fame and admiration from her admirers. However, a little more than a month later, these same supporters have begun to make fun of the Olympian. Why? because she always has her medals on her person.

National Sports Day 2024: When, Why, and How Much It Means

Manu, who is now the life of the party, has been going to a number of parties where she is receiving awards. She should feel free to show off her medals because they fit the theme of the event. However, due of her “obsession” with medals and “showing them off,” some internet trolls are pursuing her, singling her out, making memes, and posting gifs. Manu eventually broke her silence on the subject and responded to the public’s outrage, finding herself at the center of controversy once more—first for her coupling with Neeraj Chopra and now this.

“Yes, I will! Why won’t I? Bhaker disclosed to Times of India. “I carry the medal in case someone wants to see it because everyone feels the need to display it. They even ask that you “please bring your medal along,” and when I comply, multiple photos are taken at these gatherings.”

On Wednesday, Manu also made a post about it on X, restating that the medals are the property of the whole Indian country.

Manu started India’s medal count at the Olympic Games in Paris. Her accomplishments at the Games are demonstrated by the fact that she took home two of India’s six medals. Manu narrowly missed completing a hat-trick by placing fourth in the 25-meter pistol division, although he was very close. Manu tried not to cry after the outcome and asked people not to be angry with her.

Sports: A new takeoff rule for the long jump may be implemented

For Manu, who made mistakes in Tokyo three years prior, Paris 2024 was the perfect song to make up for it. There were high expectations that India would soon become a shooting superpower when Abhinav Bindra won gold at the 2008 Beijing Games and Gagan Narang took home a bronze at the 2012 London Olympics, but that was not to be.

The inability to secure a single medal at the Olympics in 2016 and 2021 posed a threat to the growing popularity of shooting in India, particularly in light of the notable advancements being made in badminton and hockey. India hoped as Manu took the stage in Tokyo, but she broke down in tears due to a dreadful weapon malfunction. Manu took a while to recover from the heartbreak, but she channeled it and used the lesson to her advantage this time.

“In Tokyo, I was really afraid of disappointing others, and I let that anxiety to seep into my thoughts. I consequently missed the chance to even make it to the finals. Though it took me a while to get over it, I now believe that the past is behind us. That’s behind me now. I learned a lot from Tokyo, and that’s how I was able to win these two medals in Paris,” Manu said last month to The Hindustan Times.
