Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni are two entirely different captains: Harbhajan Singh explains why Sourav Ganguly was a great leader and notes that MS Dhoni’s approach to raising a child was quite different from Rohit Sharma’s.

Harbhajan Singh, a former cricketer for India, believes that Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni are quite different from one another when it comes to captaining.

During the podcast “Find a Way with Taruwar Kohli,” Harbhajan Singh stated, “Dhoni and Rohit are completely different leaders.”

“MS Dhoni will never approach a player and enquire about his preferred field. He promised to let you grow from your errors.

When Harbhajan was playing for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) under MS Dhoni, he recalls an event from the Indian Premier League (IPL).

“I recall a match in which MS Dhoni was keeping and I was fielding at the short fine leg. When Shardul Thakur was bowling, Kane Williamson smacked him with the first ball of the bowl, sending it over the boundary. identical length ball the next time, and Williamson made the identical shot. I urged MS to advise Shardul to try bowling at a different length. MS addressed me as “Paji.” He won’t learn anything if I tell him now. Let him discover on his own. He reasoned that Shardul would rapidly pick up on boundaries if he were to be hit. That was MS Dhoni’s method, Harbhajan recalled.

The former spinner for India stated of Rohit: “Rohit is very different.” He is going to see each player. He’s the type of person that will put his arm around your shoulder and express his desires to you. He will instill in you the belief that you are capable of succeeding.

Harbhajan also mentioned how captaining India during Test cricket has improved Rohit Sharma’s leadership skills.

“Rohit’s transition to Test cricket captaincy has been the largest shift in his character. You get a lot of knowledge as a test captain. There are a lot of moments in Twenty20 cricket that you can afford to miss, but in Test cricket you cannot. Everything in a cricket test is run by the captain. To win a Test match, your strategies and execution are vital, which is what makes you a great leader. I can’t help but think about Steve Waugh because he was so outstanding. Leading in T20Is and ODIs gets simpler if you are performing well as a captain in Test cricket, according to Harbhajan.

The late Shane Warne was likened to Rohit Sharma’s leadership qualities by Rajasthan Royals player Taruwar Kohli.

Rohit bhai and Shane Warne were similar. He used to approach each person during the warm-up and clarify everyone’s duty, according to Tarwuar.

Reminiscent of his early playing days spent with Sourav Ganguly, Harbhajan discussed what made Ganguly a great leader.

“You want better support from your captain as a player. It all comes down to managing men. In that regard, Sourav Ganguly was most likely the finest. He granted us the freedom to go and enjoy ourselves.

We were all unique individuals. I’m not the same as Rahul Dravid. To me, Zaheer Khan is unique. That is not Ashish Nehra. He did not attempt to mould somebody into someone they were not. That’s how he brought out the best in everyone of us. Sourav left behind a legacy that MS Dhoni continued, and Rohit continued it after him. I hope the person who leads Team India in the future follows suit,” he remarked.
