NTA Revises NEET UG Results; Toppers Drop by 75%: With 17 students receiving a perfect score, the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Friday revealed the updated NEET UG 2024 results, which represents a 75% decrease in the number of top scorers from the previously announced results.
In the results that were made public on June 4, a record 67 candidates tied for first place with perfect scores of 720.
Six of these students received extra credit for time lost during the exam as a result of invigilator faults, placing them at the top of the class. Furthermore, 44 students who received “grace marks” for answering a simple physics question wrong went on to attain the highest rank.
On Tuesday, however, the Supreme Court ruled that there would only be one correct response, and that anyone who provided a different one would not be graded.
For the students who ran out of time on the exam, there was also a retest.
The number of eligible applicants has similarly decreased after these adjustments, going from 1316268 to 1315853 (a 415 difference).
For 1563 candidates who had lost time on the exam, the NTA administered a retest.
The NEET UG 2024 exam, which took place on May 5, has been the subject of controversy due to claims of irregularities, paper leaks, and exam time loss.
There were significant numbers of candidates for the NEET UG exam this year: 13,31,321 female candidates, 9,96,393 male candidates, and 17 transgender students. Before the results were changed, 67 individuals were declared as AIR 1, garnering a lot of interest.
