After winning the T20 World Cup, Rohit Sharma expresses gratitude to MS Dhoni for his well-wishes: He went above and beyond for us. Following India’s victory in the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, Rohit Sharma expressed his gratitude to MS Dhoni.

India defeated South Africa by 7 runs in the final at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday to win the title in the Caribbean and the USA. It came right down to the wire, and India managed to successfully defend 176 by remaining composed.

Dhoni posted an emotional message on his Instagram profile following the game. Dhoni spoke about the emotional roller coaster he experienced throughout the game. Dhoni expressed gratitude to India for the “priceless birthday gift” as well. Dhoni will celebrate his 43rd birthday on July 7.

In addition to thanking Dhoni for the well wishes, Rohit commended him for the honors he has won for India. Dhoni won the Champions Trophy in 2013, the ODI World Cup in 2013, and the T20 World Cup in 2007.

“Dhoni was a fantastic player in the past. He accomplished much for the nation and ourselves. I was relieved that he thought well of us, Rohit remarked following the game.

“The ideal circumstances for me”

Along with Virat Kohli, who was named Player of the Match after India’s victory, Rohit also made the decision to retire from Twenty20 international cricket. According to Rohit, there has never been a better moment for him to end his T20I career.

“Whenever I get a gut feeling that something is right, I strive to act on it; this was also my style as team captain. I want to do what I feel deep inside. I don’t give the past or the future any thought.I never believed I would leave T20, but when the opportunity presented itself, I saw it as the ideal circumstance for me. There’s nothing greater than raising the trophy and bidding adieu, Rohit continued.

Rohit was India’s all-time top run scorer when he left the Twenty20 Internationals. He amassed 4231 runs at a strike rate of 140.89 and an average of 32.05 in 159 games.
