T20 World Cup is Rahul Dravid’s final job, he says: Rahul Dravid, the head coach of India, stated on Monday that the current T20 World Cup is his final tournament with the squad. He also expressed his skepticism about reapplying for the position because of the national team’s schedule.

Before India’s opening game against Ireland in New York, Dravid declared, “It is going to be the last one that I am in-charge of.” Yes, I don’t think I’ll be able to reapply given, regrettably, the kind of schedules I have and where I am in my life right now. Thus, yes, it will undoubtedly be my last.

In November 2021, Dravid became the new head coach of India. as the 2023 ODI World Cup, his initial contract with the national team expired. However, it was extended to June 2024 as the team produced an almost flawless campaign until losing to Australia in the final.

Following the T20 World Cup, the BCCI had requested applications in April for the position of head coach. Dravid was allowed to reapply for the position at the time, according to BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, but on Monday, the latter said it was doubtful.

Dravid responded with his usual measured demeanor when asked if, with his tenure with the team coming to a conclusion, the World Cup was a “extra special” occasion for him.

“It’s the same for me. I enjoy my work so much. India tutoring has been a lot of fun for me, and I think it’s a very unique job. It’s a terrific group of boys to work with, and I really loved working with this team,” Dravid remarked.

To be completely honest, I don’t think this is all that remarkable or noteworthy. It began the day I started working there. I’ve always believed that every game matters and is significant. And that won’t alter,” he continued.

Former India opener Gautam Gambhir is regarded as a strong candidate to succeed Dravid. He most recently guided KKR to their third IPL championship. Additionally, Gambhir has indicated his interest in the part.

“I would like being the Indian team’s coach. No greater honor exists. How can it get much greater when you represent India as you do 140 crore Indians and more people throughout the world? At a recent public event, Gambhir declared, “It is not me that will help India win the World Cup; it is 140 crore Indians who will help India win the World Cup.”
