IPL 2024 Playoffs: How did RR, KKR, SRH, and RCB do in elimination games? The groundwork is set for what looks to be an incredible IPL 2024 playoff season.
Hyderabad and Kolkata will square off in Ahmedabad on Tuesday in an attempt to go straight to the Chennai final. At the same location, the Narendra Modi Stadium, Rajasthan and Bengaluru will square off in a high-stakes match the next day.
Even if Kolkata and Hyderabad lose Tuesday’s Qualifier 1, they still have another chance to advance to the championship match. Nevertheless, following a strong performance in the league stage, neither of those two teams would want to travel the additional distance to Chennai.
Despite losing their last two games, Kolkata emerged as the most remarkable of the four teams in the playoffs, taking the lead for the first time in their IPL history with 19 points. However, SunRisers captain Pat Cummins, who appears to be gaining an envied Midas touch, was rewarded for his team’s bold approach in the league stage.
However, Rajasthan lost momentum and failed to secure the second position even though they were the clear leads at the midway point of the competition. Prior to Sunday’s league match against KKR being postponed due to rain in Guwahati, Sanju Samson’s team had lost their previous four games.
The last team to secure a postseason spot was RCB. After an incredible run in the league stage, they eliminated the reigning champions CSK from the playoffs on Saturday. With just one victory in their first eight games, RCB was languishing toward the bottom of the points standings. They managed to eke out a six-match winning streak, nevertheless, in order to finish in the top four.
Here is a look at the past playoff performances of the four teams that have placed in the top four this season before the knockout stage action gets underway.
