Rain caused the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans IPL match to be abandoned here without a ball being thrown, but the team still advanced to the Indian Premier League play-offs on Thursday.

After Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders, who are presently holding the top two spots in the standings, SRH was the third club to qualify.

With one game remaining, the Sunrisers have accumulated 15 points after receiving one point. Their final league match is set for May 19 against the already-eliminated Punjab Kings.

Rain forced the postponement of GT’s prior match, which eliminated the 2022 champions and runners-up of the previous year from the play-off round. They thus have 12 points from 14 games at the end of the season.

Due to rain and a sloppy outfield, the toss was postponed until after 7 p.m. The covers and outfield remained covered as the rain got heavier and then became a consistent shower.

A five-over game had a cut-off time of 10:56 PM, which meant that the drizzle had to end by roughly 10:15 PM in order for mop-up to start. However, since the rain didn’t seem to be stopping, the referee called off the game.

Due to rain and a wet outfield, this IPL game is being canceled for the second time.

There are still four teams vying for the last spot: the Chennai Super Kings (14), Lucknow Super Giants (12), Delhi Capitals (14) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (12).

LSG will advance to 14 points if they defeat the Mumbai Indians on Friday in order to maintain their mathematical chances of winning, but CSK will lock up the position if they defeat RCB or the match is called off on Saturday.

In the event that RCB defeats CSK by a minimum of 18 runs, or 11 balls remaining, they will secure the fourth slot on the net run-rate basis, sharing 14 points with DC, CSK, and LSG.
