In the Ranji Trophy semifinals, Shreyas Iyer needs a significant blow to make up ground: AJINKYA Rahane seemed assured. He isn’t concerned about the lack of runs, but Mumbai has a better chance of winning when Rahane is playing well. A semi-final Ranji Trophy match might motivate Rahane.

For the middle-order batsman, the domestic season has not gone well. His best in ten innings was 56 runs without a hit. a lack of runs in domestic cricket following their exclusion from the Test team.

Mumbai’s key players must perform well because Tamil Nadu, who is on the rise, will not be taken lightly in the Ranji Trophy semifinal at the MCA-BKC ground.

Sometimes when you are hitting well and starting to score runs again, it’s just a phase that you are going through. I believe my batting is in perfect condition. I must accept that it’s only a phase. I need to stay upbeat, concentrated, and trust my gut. When asked about his lack of runs, Rahane responded, “Just go out there and play freely, whatever experience I have.”

Mumbai defeated Baroda in the quarterfinals thanks to young player Musheer Khan’s double hundred in the first innings and the hundreds by Tanush Kotian and Tushar Deshpande at No. 10 and 11, respectively. This is only the second time in First-Class history that two players have scored hundreds in the same innings. The fact that Shreyas Iyer will be playing is good news for Mumbai. Iyer’s level of fitness will also become clear over the next five days. Iyer had back problems when the BCCI medical team deemed him fit at the same time.

He had notified the Mumbai Cricket Association of his back injury and his inability to play in the quarterfinals.

In important games, experience counts, and Iyer’s presence will be beneficial.

Rahane is aware of Iyer’s contributions. “Shreyas is a seasoned player who has made an incredible impact for Mumbai.” He has always performed well when he has shown up for Mumbai. He doesn’t seem to need any motivation or guidance, and we are happy to have him in the semifinals. Other players will benefit from having a player like him, Rahane stated.

After the first two Test matches against England, Iyer was removed from the squad. Because he and Ishan Kishan did not participate in the Ranji Trophy, they were removed from the list of centrally-contracted players. He will need to play domestic cricket to have a chance of being selected for the Indian team once more, according to a decision made by the BCCI and the selectors. With the IPL rapidly approaching, big runs in a knockout game will benefit him in the long run.

Fast bowlers may benefit from pitch

Seamers may now be used on the pitch at the MCA-BKC ground, which has benefited spinners thus far. Teams will be enticed to add seamers to their lineup

by the lush grass on the field. The pregame chatter in the Tamil Nadu dressing room has been that they should win more red-ball cricket matches since they have won white-ball competitions in the past. Even with such a strong grass-route system, Tamil Nadu hasn’t won the Ranji Trophy in more than thirty years.

Sulakshan Kularni, a former Mumbai wicketkeeper, is the coach of Tamil Nadu. He isn’t afraid to acknowledge that he is an expert on Mumbai cricket.

“We have played four finals in the last fifteen years, and we have done well in white ball cricket.” The only disappointing thing about our performance is that we did not win the tournament. On the eve of the match, Kulkarni stated, “We have managed to produce quality cricket, I can tell you the team bonding is great, hopefully we break that jinx.”

He goes on to praise the way his team has performed as a cohesive unit and how everyone has contributed, in contrast to Mumbai, who had to depend on one or two players to perform in each game.

“While they (TN) have won in white ball cricket, it would be extremely beneficial for Tamil Nadu cricket to win the Ranji Trophy. We performed well in the cricket match. We are the clear winners of five of the last six games. While we have played as a group here, Mumbai has seen individual performances,” Kulkarni remarked.

All-rounder Washington Sundar’s availability following his release from the Indian Test team is undoubtedly a plus for Tamil Nadu. However, overcoming Mumbai at home will require a unique effort.
