Following Dhruv Jurel’s fierce 90-run innings against England in the fourth Test at Ranchi on Sunday, Sunil Gavaskar likened the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman to the previous captain of India, MS Dhoni, for his “presence of mind.” India reached 307 in their first innings thanks to a knock from Jurel.
While providing the analysis, Gavaskar remarked, “I think Dhruv Jurel has the makings of the next MS Dhoni because of his presence of mind.”Jurel has so far in the series impressed both with his glove performance and his batting. The 23-year-old stitched a valuable 40-run partnership with No. 10 Akash Deep after an outstanding 76-run stand with Kuldeep Yadav.
Dhruv Jallel: Who is he?
The father of Jurel, a veteran of the Kargil War, desired that his son enlist in the Indian Army. Former Indian Army Havaldar Nem Singh Jurel wished for his kid to pass the National Defence Academy (NDA) test and join the military. As a veteran of the Kargil War himself, Jurel Sr. wanted Dhruv to continue the family tradition, but he was too infatuated with cricket to do so.
