Wolves ecstatic following incredible win against Chelsea on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve, Wolverhampton Wanderers shocked Chelsea by winning 2-1 in the Premier League despite several injury worries.

This historic encounter was only the second Premier League match to be played on December 24th; the first one took place in 1995. The victory at Molineux Stadium was especially delicious for Wolves, who throughout the season have demonstrated a talent for rising to the challenge against elite opponents.Wolves ecstatic following incredible win against Chelsea on Christmas Eve

Although Wolves had concerns about injuries going into the game, manager Gary O’Neil was delighted with the steely resolve that was on show. In addition, Wovles’ home winning streak was extended to six games as Chelsea lost in a nail-biting finish.

Both teams came into the game with intent, but Wolves were able to keep their cool and take advantage of their chances. Chelsea put up some early pressure, but Wolves’ tenacity was evident. Early in the second half, Mario Lemina headed in Pablo Sarabia’s corner to open the score.

Chelsea found it difficult to settle into a rhythm and turn their opportunities into goals as the game went on. They were clearly frustrated as they struggled to penetrate Wolves’ defense.

Wolves scored once more in stoppage time as Chelsea pushed forward in an attempt to tie the score. After Hugo Bueno crossed the ball, Matt Doherty capitalized on a clumsy clearing to slide home Wolves’ second goal, thus securing the victory.

In the last seconds of the game, Chelsea did manage to equalize when substitute Christopher Nkunku headed in the team’s first goal. But it was too little, too late, and the lackluster reaction from his teammates added to the Chelsea team’s overall sense of disappointment.

XMAS PRESENT FOR O’NEIL

“The doctor called me early this morning. Craig Dawson is still recovering from his virus, and Jean Bellegarde is not feeling well,” O’Neil remarked.

“We had to call up the young guys to make sure they were available this morning. Despite injuries and having three young guys on the bench, we managed an amazing victory against a Chelsea-sized squad and team with the resources we had.”

“The group deserves a great deal of respect for being able to extract every last bit from every member present, for them to stick together and not only scrape a victory but to be at ease for the majority of it. After that, I’ll enjoy Christmas Day tomorrow.”

As a result of the outcome, Chelsea is now mired in 10th position in the league table, a far cry from their goals when the season began. It was an ideal Christmas gift for the Wolves and their supporters.
