Sanjay Bangar claims that Prasidh Krishna is not the only player who had a poor Test career start. Fast-bowler Prasidh Krishna was mentioned by former Indian batter Sanjay Bangar, who remarked that he is not the only player to have had a poor Test career start.

In the first Test of their two-match series, South Africa leads India by 11 runs at the end of Day 2 at SuperSport Park in Centurion.

On Day 2, Prasidh struggled, giving up 61 runs in 15 overs at an economy rate of 4.06 and getting rid of Kyle Verreynne, the batsman who keeps wickets. In the second session, he was especially expensive as he and Shardul Thakur were dismissed for 42 runs in the first eight overs following lunch.

In an interview with Star Sports, Bangar likened Jasprit Bumrah’s Test debut to that of Prasidh, stating that even Bumrah got taken for runs during his 2018 debut.

In 2018, Bumrah made his Test debut in Cape Town against South Africa. In 19 overs, he gave up 73 runs, but he also took out former wicket-keeper AB de Villiers.

He insisted that Prasidh is not the only person to have a below-average Test debut, adding that the latter demonstrated that he could be a handful when he adhered to hitting the deck hard.

After representing India in 17 ODIs and five T20Is, Prasidh was given his Test debut in Centurion.

“That’s what you observed, the distinct advantage that the team management had hoped Prasidh would not have a significant impact on during the first period.

However, in the second spell, we saw that he might still be a handful if he could maintain that length of hard deck hits without trying to find a swing. Prasidh may still be in his early innings, but he is not alone in having had a somewhat unimpressive start to his Test career, Bangar continued.

In the Boxing Day Test against India, Dean Elgar produced his 14th century in the format to lead South Africa to an 11-run lead at the close of the second day. KL Rahul hit his eighth Test century with a tough knock in the opening innings, which helped India score 245 runs. On Day 3, South Africa hopes to extend their 11-run advantage.
