With eight games played, the hosts have not lost and are currently leading the table. They will be the highest-ranked team at the end of the league stage.

Still unknown is the location of Rohit Sharma and Co.’s semifinal match, despite their definite spot on the points table.

In the first semifinal in Mumbai, the top-ranked team is supposed to face the fourth-ranked team; however, if Pakistan is in last place among the four semifinalists, the match will not take place.

In response to security concerns, the PCB requested that the ICC and BCCI predetermine, in advance of the tournament, that Pakistan, regardless of their position in the points table, play their semifinal match in Kolkata.

Originally, the second semifinal—which pits the second-placed team against the third—was supposed to take place in Eden Gardens. On the other hand, the site will host the first semifinal, which is scheduled for November 15, if India and Pakistan, respectively, are ranked first and fourth.

Instead of going the other way, which would have happened if Pakistan had finished fourth, the second semifinal would now take place the following day at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

The organizers were asked by Pakistan’s cricket governing body to refrain from holding any of the team’s matches in Mumbai.

All of Babar Azam and Co.’s league stage matches have been held at five of the ten World Cup locations: Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata.

Currently, Pakistan is up against Afghanistan and New Zealand for the fourth position..

Australia and South Africa, the teams rated second and third in the points table, are set to face off in one of the two semifinals.
