The Windies won the five-match series 3-2 by chasing down 166 with eight wickets and 12 balls remaining.

The final T20I on Sunday saw West Indies win by eight wickets, clinching a five-match series. In Lauderhill, Florida, India had set a goal of 166 for the Windies. Brandon King (85*) would win the match with a six and 12 balls remaining.

India had not lost a series since they were defeated in a three-match series in Sri Lanka in July 2021. Losing is sometimes beneficial, according to skipper Hardik Pandya, who has led the team since the T20 World Cup last year and lost his maiden series as captain. It gives you a lot of knowledge.

When reflecting on the series loss and the defeat in the fifth T20I, Pandya continued, “If you look, we lost that phase after 10 overs. I couldn’t complete since I took my time and couldn’t capitalise on the situation when I arrived. (On choosing to bat first) I think it’s important for our team to push itself. These are the games where we must learn, after all. We have decided as a group that we will always choose the difficult path. In retrospect, one series here or there doesn’t matter as much as the dedication to the end result.

Pandya replied, “It’s a long way,” when questioned about the T20 World Cup being place in the Caribbean and the USA in 2019. The ODI World Cup is approaching. You gain a lot of knowledge. The boys deserve a special mention as well. Their character was admirable. We’ll make sure we take lessons from both wins and losses because they are a necessary part of the journey.

The West Indies began their attack with spin right away thanks to Akeal Hosein, who bowled three consecutive overs during the powerplay, but India didn’t add spin until the fourth over, when 44 runs had already been scored. Axar Patel didn’t make his debut until the fifteenth over.

“I don’t have many plans; it’s just how I feel at the moment. When asked about his modifications, Pandya would respond, “If I perceive a situation, whatever my intuition says I follow.

“They have heart. In terms of international cricket, that is a crucial factor. Every young person who comes through has faith. I see that a lot more frequently today. Well done for coming forward and accepting accountability. As a captain, I couldn’t be happier,” Pandya said.
