Sabir Kabliwala- Former Congress MLA is Party President in Gujarat: MIM may hamper Congress prospect in local election

Close on the heels of AIMIM’s leaders back to back visit of Gujarat recently, Hyderabad based Party is now fully geared to fight local elections in Gujarat which are likely to held in coming February. After good show in Bihar Assembly election, Owaisi is eyeing on some more states including Modi land.
Asaduddin Owaisi led Hyderabad based political party All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen has appointed former Congress MLA from Jamalpur – Khadia assembly seat in Ahmedabad, Sabir Kabliwala as President of Gujarat unit of AIMIM
The All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) started preparing a list of seats where it will stand for the local body elections slated to be held in February.
AIMIM is likely to contest the local body polls along with Bhartiya Tribal Party, ( BTP), Mostly will likely nominate candidates for Muslim dominated areas.
According to realiable sources, Majlis has already prepared a list of probables for the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. ” There are around 48 seats of the total 192 in AMC where AIMIM could field its candidates. However, the party is sure to win at least 15 seats.
This is a small step towards the upcoming state assembly election. At present, the party is eyeing to contact disgruntled members of Congress Party.
Although it is too early to draw any conclusion on the arrival of AIMIM in the political landscape, this developments is said to be indicating “advantage” for BJP and may create a big dent in Congress’ electoral prospects. Congress continues to be in its “cocoon” and has barely been able to make its presence felt and allowed its support shrink.
In recently held bypolls to the Assembly seat, it lost all eight seats. The bypolls were held after its eight MLAs resigned and many of them joined BJP.
When asked about the impact of AIMIM in the state, Amit Dholakia, professor and head of political science at Maharaja Sayajirao University in Vadodara. said that AIMIM is not a national party and its reaction is too extreme in the state known for having moderate Muslim population who mind their business. The party might affect Congress’ support base but it will not be significant.”
