Masjid Omer Al shifa, in saif colony, osmanagar, which was recently ravaged in the floods has opened its doors for a full- fledged Primary Health Care Centre in association with Helping Hand Foundation.
The center will provide not only high quality primary health services but will also have all adjuvant services like dental health, prevention and control of NCDs, children and women’s health and nutritional services.
Osmannagar is among the worst affected localities during the floods of last October in Hyderabad. The water did not recede even after 40 days in Osmannagar forcing the people to vacate their houses and live elsewhere for more than a month.
Those who were living on rent vacated the houses while the owners had to take shelter in relatives and friends houses while a few of them continued to stay there with water all around them.
There is no basti dawakhana there and the people most of whom are poor from the minority section were finding it difficult to access health care.
The centre which is functional from the last one week will be formally launched today and is catering to an OPD of 200 to 250 daily. Most residents are still to recover fully from the after- shocks of the floods and dwindling economic situation and were in need of affordable and easily accessible health care services.
There are three full time doctors, nurses, counsellors and ambulance services. The health center will function on all days of the week except Sunday
This is the third primary health care center established in a masjid by Helping hands foundation (HHF), in partnership with SEED, USA.
The other two Masjids where health care centers are running are at Nawab sahab Kunta and Waadi-a Mahmood, Rajendernagar.
