Upping the ante against the BJP that is trying to gain political advantage on the corona issue, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) termed the protests undertaken by the State unit of the national party as “cheap politics”. TRS leaders reminded BJP that such partisan attitude will not do good for the State at a time when the nation was facing multiple challenges in the shape of China and coronavirus.

Addressing media at Assembly press point here, Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav and MLAs Maganti Gopinath and Mutha Gopal sought the BJP leaders to explain how the Union Health Minister and the expert team that visited the State had praised the initiatives taken by the Telangana government to contain Covid.

“What was the central intelligence doing when the Markaz in Delhi become focal point for the spread of Corona? Which government has neglected the welfare of migrant workers and announced lockdown, and who has declared lockdown and lifted it in a most unscientific manner?” the Minister asked.

He said that the Telangana government was following the guidelines of the ICMR in the treatment of patients.Srinivas Yadav lambasted BJP saying that the party really has no clue on the subjects to highlight even as the centre has not granted a single rupee for the State to help contain the pandemic. “Is the central package helpful to any single person in this country and who has shifted the Corona testing machine ordered by Telangana ?” he questioned.

Advising the BJP leaders to act responsible he said that even a super power like USA is also facing umpteen troubles because of Covid. “If you won’t talk sense then we have started from Gujarat by taking up each and every issue on Covid since the day the pandemic entered India,” he warned. However he allayed fears and said that there is no need to panic by the spurt in positive cases as the city of Hyderabad is a home for over one crore population.

Meanwhile, Public Undertakings Committee Chairman A Jeevan Reddy and MP Ranjit Reddy wanted to know if the BJP national president JP Nadda would question Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the 27,000 positive cases reported from his home State Gujarat. “Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao during the video conference with the Prime Minister has specifically said that there should be no politics in dealing with national security and corona. But Nadda lied about the corona positive numbers in Telangana. “Nadda please know that this is land of Telangana. Lies wont work here,” Jeevan Reddy said.

Jeevan Reddy pointed out that continuation of flights between China and India even in the month of March when the pandemic started spreading in that country in November is a grave mistake that resulted in the spurt in cases. “Is it not true that lockdown was declared without considering the plight of lakhs of migrant workers, costing several innocent lives,” Jeevan Reddy said adding that even the island nation Singapore gave sufficient time before declaring lockdown.
