Afghanistan vs. Papua New Guinea Live Score: Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat first against PNG in a match that has the potential to knock New Zealand out of the Super 8 tournament.

Guinea-Boats versus Afghanistan Match Live Score for the 2024 T20 World Cup: To guarantee their place in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup, Afghanistan overcame Papua New Guinea by seven wickets in their league stage match. Though the Black Caps still have two games remaining, in the process they also eliminated New Zealand’s hopes of making it to the Super 8 round.

After losing both of their openers, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, for just 22 runs together, the Afghan team struggled to stay in the game.

Papua New Guinea, batting first, lost half their side at 30/5 before the powerplay overs were completed and they were all out for 95 runs. They suffered near-comical run-outs that cost them four wickets, including that of skipper Assad Vala: a mix-up, a schoolboy’s inability to ground the bat, and a bat that became lodged in the pitch just outside the crease.

Following Captain Vala’s removal in the second over, PNG lost three more wickets in the following two overs. So far, Naveen-ul-Haq and Fazalhaq Farooqi have each captured two wickets.

In the crucial T20 World Cup match, Afghanistan had won the toss, and captain Rashid Khan had ordered Papua New Guinea to bat first. In the event that Afghanistan triumphs today, New Zealand will be eliminated, and for the first time in their history, an Asian side will advance past the league stage of an ICC tournament. The game will be closely monitored by New Zealand. They still have two games to go, but even a victory will not help them because they can only earn a maximum of four points.

Afghanistan will advance to the next round with six points, sharing the lead with the hosts, the West Indies, if they win today.
