India will host 2025 FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup: In December 2025, India will play host to the Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup. This Junior Hockey World Cup will feature as many as 24 teams for the first time.
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) Executive Board chose India as the hosts on Tuesday.
Encouraging a greater and more varied group of National Associations to participate is a fundamental component of our Empowerment and Engagement approach. FIH President Tayyab Ikram stated in a statement, “We saw at the FIH Hockey5s World Cup in Oman this year how more diversity brings a huge added value to our events.”
“Therefore, I’m thrilled that more teams are taking part in the FIH Hockey Junior World Cups, and I’m excited to witness these 24 young teams, who are our sport’s future, compete next year! At this point, I would want to sincerely thank Hockey India for their dedication to putting on yet another amazing event, Ikram continued.
“We’re delighted that the International Hockey Federation (FIH) chose India to host the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2025,” stated Dr. Dilip Tirkey, President of Hockey India. We would like to thank Dato Tayyab Ikram, President of the FIH, and the FIH for entrusting us with this competition. This esteemed competition demonstrates India’s growing significance in international hockey and our commitment to advancing the game for coming generations. We’re thrilled to introduce India’s rich hockey heritage and offer a platform for upcoming players to display their abilities.
The FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup was last held in Malaysia in 2023. In the final, Germany defeated France 2-1 to win their sixth championship. India had lost to Spain and ended up in fourth place.
The competition has previously been held three times in India: in 2013 in New Delhi, in 2016 in Lucknow, and in 2021 in Bhubaneswar. They have won the championship at home twice, in 2001 and 2016.
