177 students received their BS from IIT Madras: The first batch of BS (Data Science and Applications) students received their certificates in a ceremony held by the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IITM). 177 students in all graduated during this ceremony.
The first group of ten Bachelor of Science graduates received their course completion certificates at the certificate distribution event, making it noteworthy. According to the institute, these students have chosen the expedited route, finishing the 4-year BS program’s credit requirements in just three years.
This is the first 4-year BS degree in data science and applications in the world, according to IIT Madras. Students in this program have the option to graduate early with a foundational, diploma, or bachelor’s degree. 26 students who choose to leave the program with a BSc in Programming and Data Science were given their degrees during the event by using that option. While earning their BS degree, an additional 120 students got their provisional BSc degree diplomas.
Ten students obtained both the Data Science and Programming diplomas, while 122 students obtained their Diplomas in Data Science. Additionally, 19 students obtained their Diplomas in Programming. Up to 411 students received provisional Double Diplomas, allowing them to pursue degrees in education.
More than 29,000 students are enrolled in the BS curriculum at IIT Madras, and over 25,000 applications have been received for the May 2024 term.
By June 15, 2024, applications for the BS in Data Science and BS in Electronic Systems programs will be accepted again.
