The three foreign batters and Kohli strategy has never worked, Aakash Chopra attacks the RCB. Aakash Chopra, a former cricket player, was blunt in his criticism of RCB’s strategies as the team’s dismal IPL 2024 season went on Saturday, April 6.

RR easily handled the chase, causing RCB to suffer their fourth defeat of the season. Virat Kohli’s 113 helped set the Royals a target of 183, which they would chase with five balls left. In the IPL 2024 points standings, this puts RCB in eighth place.

RR’s fourth victory of the season came while RCB’s problems persisted. Following the match, Chopra took to X to criticize Bengaluru’s strategies over the previous few seasons, including the removal of players like Wanindu Hasaranga and Yuzvendra Chahal in an effort to bolster their bowling unit.

The former cricket player claimed that bowling has been a problem for RCB ever since the IPL began, but they haven’t made enough of an attempt to address it.

Chopra continued by stating that since the beginning of the competition, RCB has never been successful in employing Kohli and three batters.

According to the pundit, most other teams would have adopted a different strategy by now, but not RCB.

“You sold Chahal to pay for Hasaranga. subsequently gave him up to make an investment in the uncapped Indian spinners. It took a while to see that #RCB’s bowling is a constant weak point, but it hasn’t been clear how to address it.

Regarding the batting lineup, Chopra stated, “Kohli plus three foreign hitters is a strategy that hasn’t worked for nearly two decades. Most teams would’ve taken a different route, but not the RCB.”

What issue has RCB been having in the 2024 IPL?

For RCB, Kohli has been in incredible form with the bat, but the foreign core in the batting has been a complete disaster thus far. People like Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell have not yet reached their peak.

The absence of a well-known spinner in their lineup has also raised concerns about their bowling. Following the defeat against RR, coach Andy Flower also acknowledged that the team has been lacking in form and confidence this season. MI will visit RCB in Mumbai on April 11th.
