The southpaw overcame the first oohs and aahs and demonstrated his resolve with a stylish 76 to lead India to 251 for 7 and an 84-run victory over Bangladesh.

Ankit, his older brother, was unsurprised by Adarsh’s attitude and recalled the difficult financial periods in the family that influenced Adarsh’s character. Their mother, who worked in an anganwadi, was the only source of income during the lockdown; nevertheless, father would sell a piece of land and transfer the proceeds to Adarsh’s name so that he could pursue his cricket career. According to his brother, Adarsh is aware of the family’s struggles and isn’t going to give up on his cricket career.”It was a challenging period,” the brother Ankit says to The Indian Express. “Our father was employed by a company that produced Chinese jewels in the past. He had a salary of Rs 25,000. In addition, I lost my job. It was Adarsh’s U-16 game. With our mother being the only source of income, it was challenging to pay the rent,” he remembers.

“I began tutoring high school students in Kanpur privately, but it was just enough to get by. In order to spare Adarsh from suffering, my father decided to sell a plot in the village and deposit the proceeds in a bank.
