As part of its silver jubilee celebrations, the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has chosen to grant a “one-time chance” to students who haven’t been able to finish their degrees during the past 25 years, the vice chancellor of the university announced on Wednesday.
Vice Chancellor Mahesh Verma provided information about a variety of programs that will be hosted from October 5–10 as part of the 25th anniversary festivities during a news conference that the university held here earlier in the day.
Later, when speaking with PTI, he added that the GGSIPU would “honor 25 research scholars” who were active in the medical sector.
The silver anniversary celebrations began in December of last year and will go through December of this year, he said.
The institution is honoring achievement in healthcare as well as academic endeavors throughout this jubilee year.
“We will be offering a one-time chance to students who, for various reasons, couldn’t complete their degrees over the past 25 years,” Verma told PTI as part of the university’s ongoing silver anniversary festivities.
According to him, this program shows how dedicated the university is to encouraging academic endeavors and offering chances for academic success.
Delhi University, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2022, offered students who for some reason were unable to finish their degrees the chance to retake their exams last year as part of the university’s “centenary” initiative.
Starting on Thursday, the university will organize a “health mela” at Talkatora Indoor Stadium where residents of Delhi and other areas can come for free health check-ups, expert lectures, and medical testing.
Along with the university’s associated institutions, the event will feature the participation of the Ministry of Ayush, Central Health Education Bureau, Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre, Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences, and other healthcare-related organizations, he told reporters.
The ‘Silver Jubilee Health Mela’ will also feature a variety of everyday events that will guarantee a lively atmosphere, including singing, music, dancing, dramas, quizzes, debates, and stand-up comedy, according to Verma.
The Delhi government created the first university, known as the Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), in 1998. In Dwarka, its main campus spans more than 60 acres.
